If water regularly reaches or flows over the surface of your dock, it’s a sign of insufficient elevation or rising water levels. Over time, this constant exposure can degrade the dock’s structural integrity. You may notice wood swelling, fasteners loosening, or the dock becoming slippery and unsafe for use.
Loose or broken decking is a clear indicator that the dock’s structure is weakening, either from wear, poor maintenance, or exposure to the elements. Gaps between boards, splintering, and boards that feel unstable when walked on are red flags that repairs are needed to prevent further deterioration and ensure safety.
If you notice sections of your dock sagging or lumber bouncing when you walk across it, it’s a sign that the supporting structure underneath is compromised. This could be due to rotting wood, failing fasteners, or weakened piles, all of which need attention before they cause a full structural collapse.
Piles that lean or shift out of alignment are a sign of foundational failure, often caused by erosion, improper installation, or material degradation. This can result in the entire dock becoming unbalanced or unstable, increasing the risk of significant damage to both the dock and any boats attached to it.
When you see discoloration or warping on the dock’s surface, it’s usually a result of prolonged water exposure, sun damage, or fungal growth. Warped boards can affect the dock’s levelness, while discoloration is an early warning of wood rot or mold that needs to be addressed before the damage becomes more extensive.
These are just a few of the causes of damage associated with owning and maintaining a boat dock. We are THE Dock Experts and can help with all dock related issues.
Rising water levels can submerge the dock’s decking and structure, leading to erosion and weakening of materials over time. Constant exposure to water accelerates decay, makes the dock unsafe, and increases the risk of damage during storms or high tides.
Wood used in docks, especially untreated or low-grade materials, is vulnerable to rot and decay when exposed to moisture and the elements. Over time, the integrity of the dock weakens, causing structural issues, making the dock unsafe, and leading to costly repairs or replacement.
If your dock is built with poor construction practices or low-quality hardware, it can quickly become unstable or deteriorate under the stress of waves and weather. Weak connections, substandard fasteners, or improper materials can result in a dock that fails prematurely, putting your investment at risk.
Piles support the dock, and when they begin to fail—due to material fatigue, environmental exposure, or inadequate installation—the entire structure can become unstable. Pile failure can cause the dock to shift, collapse, or sink, requiring expensive replacements and putting your boat and property in danger.
Damaged or waterlogged flotation units can cause the dock to sit unevenly or sink, affecting its stability and making it hazardous to use. Insufficient or failing flotation also increases the chance of the dock becoming submerged, leading to further damage and reducing its lifespan.

We raise the dock and seawall to the latest elevation standards, ensuring they meet current regulations and provide adequate protection from rising water levels.
We can ugrade to composite decking materials that resist rot, splintering, and decay, offering a low-maintenance solution compared to traditional wood options.
We utilize engineered designs with marine-grade stainless steel, built for harsh marine conditions, and always ensure professional installation by a certified marine contractor.
We can replace damaged or failing piles with durable materials such as concrete, steel, composites, or treated wood to increase resistance in marine environments and extend lifespan.
For flotation problems, we can replace punctured or waterlogged flotation units with new foam-filled or air-filled floats, or add more units to increase buoyancy and improve overall dock stability.
These are just a few of the ways that we help dock owners repair and maintain their boat docks. We are THE Dock Experts and can help with all dock related issues.
Fantastic work, got all the paperwork processed in a timely fashion at the city, Lighthouse Point. I’ve had bad experiences with other dock, Seawall and lift companies, Everyone at the Dock Experts was great. Andrew sold me on the lift, and everyone at the office, and work crew, moved the project along from start to finish in quick time. I highly recommend them. I’m having them do sock at a rental property I own, and will recommend them to friends.
These guys are the best! If you want a company that gets it done right, answers the phone, and follows through- look no further. Tom has been great to work with and the crew including Bob, Gary, Tony, and Chad are true professionals. After completing a new dock and lift a year ago- we are still extremely happy we chose to work with them. And yes -they do still answer the phone when I have called!
We highly recommend Dock Experts! Our seawall completely collapsed. The owners Andrew and Tom and their staff were always available to answer our questions or concerns. Our project was challenging in many ways and they figured out how to attack the issues. They are perfectionists. Our extensive project was finished in a timely manner. No mess left behind. We wish we could personally name all the hard workers that gave us our home back. Too many to remember , but Bob, Tom, Mike and his son Brett all amazing and Jennifer in the office. Many thanks. The pictures below say it all!
Had problem with cables on a 4 poster lift. Called Andrew for service a d got immediate response. Had service team on site the next day. Chad Gorman and his helper did a outstanding job of keeping me informed of needs and progress. Did a outstanding job of diagnosis and repair of the problem. Also took care of some minor repairs and adjustments to get the lift to 100%. Could not have been more satisfied.
